Hi!! It becomes colder in Japan. Please be careful of a bad cold! Today, I will write down about HIV. Do you know that December １st was World AIDS Day? We should learn about HIV.

What is HIV?
Dr. (Dr.Brown):

HIV stands for Human Immunodeficiency Virus. HIV infects and gradually destroys the infected person's immune system, reducing their protection against infection and cancers. The main cell HIV infects is called a T helper lymphocyte. This cell is a crucial part of the immune system, and co-ordinates the actions of other immune system cells. A big reduction in the number of T helper cells seriously weakens the immune system. Aids, or Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome, is a term that describes the point when a person's immune system can no longer cope because of the damage caused by HIV and they start to get one or more specific illnesses.

T: What is the difference between HIV & AIDS?
Dr.: HIV is the virus that is passed from one person to another. In time, it can lead to the disease known as AIDS. A person can only develop AIDS if he/she has HIV.

T:How long does it take for HIV to cause AIDS?
Dr.:Since 1992, scientists have estimated that about half the people with HIV develop AIDS within 10 years after becoming infected. This time varies greatly from person to person and depends on many factors, including a person's health status and his or her health-related behaviors. With improved treatments, researchers anticipate that the time it takes to develop AIDS will extend well beyond 10 years.

T: How do I know if I have HIV or AIDS?
Dr.:There are lots of signs and symptoms that are common for people with HIV or AIDS. However, the ONLY way a person can tell if he/she is HIV positive is to be tested. A person can get tested at many locations in the Long Beach area. To find out more, see thesection on HIV testing.

The mystery of a convenience store

Hello ! Today, I write down the mystery. Please read it and think.

Emily worked at the convenience store. One day, as soon as the manager came there, he was angry and shouted at her. She was surprised at his anger and asked him why he was so angry. He explained the details to her. In this morning, he checked the amount of stocks but the amount was less than the assumption. He doubted that she stole the stocks yesterday. Actually, she worked here late and she closed the store by herself. This is not the first trouble. The troubles had ever caused every time she closed the store.
She insisted on her innocence. He asked her who stole them if she is not the criminal. She had the slight idea about it. The man like an office worker came here yesterday and went to the toilet many times. He came here every time she worked here. He didn't always buy anything. But she had no evidence of his guilt...
The manager suddenly asked her about her action in this store yesterday. He was still doubtful about her . She came here and clean the floor soon. She also cleaned the toilet and fixed the ventilator on the ceiling in the toilet. It broke these days. After that, she displayed the stocks on the shelves. She had to do that fast because it was crowded in this store. The dealer took stocks and put it in front of the door of toilet as usual. Every stuff left them as it is. Everyone thought that stuffs in the next morning should carry them to the warehouse. But she always carried them. Then, she saw the man like an office worker going to the toilet. After closed, she cleaned the floor again and locked the door.
Emily wanted to go to the toilet. When she entered there, she noticed that the ventilator broke again...

My travel in winter

Hello! It is very cold these days. Don't you have a cold? I have a slight cold now...
Please be careful of bad cold !
Today, I want to talk to you about my pleasant trip in winter when I was a high shcool students. I went to Hokkaido with my friends when I was 17 years old. It was my first visit to Hokkaido. I visited Sapporo and Otaru in Hokkaido. In the airport, my heart leaped up because I hadn't ever got on a plane! I had a fear of heights... But actually, it was nice flight because of beautiful blue sky. When I got out of the airport, there was nothing but snow as far as the eye could reach. It was very very beautiful scene. First, we visited Sapporo. We ate Genghis Khan, which was mutton and vegitables roasted on the pot. It tasted a grilled meat and delicious! After that, we went to the noodle street at night. There is a big street where many noodle stall runs in Sapporo. We ate a lot of noodles. We were satisfied with it. Next day, we went to Otaru. In Otaru, we ate Sushi. The fish were very fresh and we ate them too much. It was hard to walk after that. This travel was like an eating tour !
